Slacker

What can I say, there has been a lot going on recently. The weekend at the beach with the girls was fantastic. I also learned in advance to heading to Aruba for our honeymoon that I will be wearing SPF as high as it goes and reapplying on the hour...or so that would be the smart thing to do. Here are a few pictures from that weekend. My camera was set on the wrong light setting so some of the pictures look slightly silly. I am blessed though, to have such great friends who were willing to take the time out of their busy schedules to take me to the beach :o)

I tried to trick Andy into thinking I got his name tattooed on my shoulder with a frog. It was unsuccessful...

During this past week I've just been trying to get the details finished for the wedding. I got the programs done, the favor bags done, found baskets, and got everything as organized as I think it can be. Really, other than the music we are ready to go. I've also been slowly packing more stuff up to move. This is the big weekend though, everything goes. I'll be living in our guest room after Friday. It's kind of sad and mom's house is going to look slightly empty.

This weekend Andy and I cleaned and cleaned and painted and cleaned. We started the guest room upstairs and it is going to look GREAT when it is done! We got two shades of red, one a little darker than the other. The top half we painted the lighter color and we are putting a white chair rail all round the room to split the two colors. The guest room might be the nicest room in the house when all is said and done. I might have to be a guest in my own house. I spent the weekend cleaning our carpets. We've been talking about getting new carpet put in for so long because they were horrible but we barrowed mom's carpet cleaner and for 25 dollars our carpets look great! So thanks mom for saving us about 2,000.00! :o) Plus the house smells amazing now.

Off to the Beach!

I have amazing friends. Maybe not many, but the ones I have are quality! My best friend/maid of honor was sweet enough to organize a weekend for me and my bridesmaids at the beach. Unfortunately only 3 of us could make it but that is A OK! It is going to be wonderful, there is no one I'd rather spend this time with. I'm sure I'll have plenty of pictures to share when we return...hopefully that aren't full of red people from the sun. Anyway, I'm excited. Time to finish a few last things before she gets here!

Sundae Shower

Today I realized just how much I'm going to miss my church family here in Greensboro. Today was my last Sunday for awhile there. Thankfully we'll be visiting home at least once a month to check up on momma :o) Our choir sang a song this morning about how God is in that place. Never have I been to a church in which I've felt God or even just seen Him move in others, like I have at my church. All the churches Andy and I have visited in Cary...God just isn't there. I felt ridiculous because before the words to the song even started I started crying and I couldn't stop until it was over. I'm really going to miss that place and I can still only continue to pray that God would leas us to a place that we can grow and give back to with a community nearby.

I've become really close to the associate pastor and his wife over the past couple of years and they were so sweet to throw Andy and I a wedding shower today. My mom helped to, but Jennifer, thanks again for everything. We can't even begin to tell you how much we appreciated it. Anyway, it was so fun to just hang out in a relaxed setting and fellowship. There were ADORABLE yellow and orange umbrellas (hence the "shower") hanging from the ceiling, lots of ice cream and tons of toppings and yummy carrot cupcakes Jennifer made all by herself (if you are reading this, GREAT JOB!). There were even cute M&M's with our names on them in yellow and orange (we may take a few bags to the reception with us for a little more decor). Anyway, it was so sweet of them. I think the funniest thing was this awesome older couple in our church handed us this mystery gift, we couldn't figure out what it was, but when we opened it up it was this really nice serving tray with a LOT of cleaning supplies. I guess they must think we are messy. ;o)

Anyway, I am so greatful for my church and all the amazing things they have done for me and my family. If anyone from Clifton Road is reading this...you all will be missed...

Here are some pictures of the wonderful shower...

Reservations

This past weekend was quite eventful! Andy and I went to Wilmington to reserve the last few things we needed for the reception. A great friend of mine sat down with us one day to talk about design since she is fantastic at it and put together some ideas for us. Our wedding colors are white and yellow so at the reception we are going to through in some nice fall orange. Maybe with it looking more like fall inside it won't seem so hot outside considering we are getting married in Wilmington during the hottest month of the year. Smart we are. Anyway, I hope it turns out well. Maybe something SIMILAR to this? We'll see...

His mom and I also made the centerpieces this weekend. We are planning to save some money by taking the pew clips from the church and putting them in the centerpieces we have made. They look so cute! I really can't wait to see everything put together :o)

Of course we made time to play a little tennis and even go downtown Wilmington to see the fireworks shoot off over the water. It was beautiful!

Yesterday we took the time to go get our marriage license...YAY! and I started my own little home project covering all the shelves and such with this cute green and white liner I found at Target. Other than the fact some of it is already starting to pull up it looks great! It's nice to finally put things where they should be and its also fun finally getting dishes and things to put away.

31 more days...one month to go!

Annuals vs. Perennials

So we planted all these really pretty flowers (it is hard to tell from the pictures) only to find out that they wont grow back next year. Sure it was a great bonding experience with each other and the mosquitos but its sad to think that they won't come back next year. We really want to eventually have an amazing looking yard.

We do have roses and crimson growing out back but we really need some help with the front.

We are heading to Wilmington this weekend to do some final things for the wedding. We are planning to reserve linens and such as well as get our marriage license! YAY! I'm so excited. 37 days!

Any suggestions for plants that will grow back from year to year?
