2 months Almost 3!

I figured before Luke turns 3 months old next Monday I should probably post his 2 month update...sorry to thise of you who actually keep up with this blog. I'm not going to blame it on lack of time because lately I've honestly had quite a bit but I will blame it on the fact it took FOREVER for us to get 2 month pictures that he wasn't screaming in...

Our second month with Luke was probably the most challenging. When we brought him home he was generally a quite baby who loved to sleep. We definitely took that for granted as month 2 rolled around. Luke decided that as long as he was awake he was going to be screaming. Not just crying but SCREAMING. I tried different bottles, different food, laying him down more often, keeping him up more. NOTHING helped. Thankfully Andy is wonderful and knows that if I call while he's at work it's got to be important. Thankfully I only called him like that once and he was able to come right home and let me get out. I NEVER thought I would be that mom. I always imagined perfection...perfect baby, perfect mom, perfect life. All I can do now is laugh. Thankfully about this same time Luke was really learning to smile. That definitely made the hard times more bearable. (Thankfully now that he is almost 3 months old this are SO much better! That will have to wait until next weeks post though!)

When we went to the doctor for Luke's 2 month well check his stats were:
23.5 inches long (75%)
12lbs 12oz (50%)
Head Circumference (80%)
Yes, our kid has a big head. Neither of us do though so maybe his body just needs to catch up. At least there is a lot of room in there for a big smart brain! He also got his first full round of shots. Again thankfully Andy came with me and I left the room while they stuck the poor kid. Later that day and the next day we dealt with our first fever. It was so hard to look at our poor baby screaming and crying and looking at you with this look of "please, help me...". Thankfully it passed quickly and he was back to his normal self.

Exciting things that happened this month was our first snow! Andy built Luke a snowman and we got to dress him up in his ADORABLE bear suit. He didn't seem to mind the snow. We think the look on his face was more due to the sunlight. And he LOVED his bear suit!

Other things about Luke in his second month were that he hated baths (his silly umbilical cord didn't fall off until Valentines Day so baths were awful. He loved to smile and cry, loves to ride in the car and loves to sleep in his Halo sleep sack. Seriously if you have a baby that has trouble sleeping you should give one of them a try. It has been a lifesaver! I'm sure there is more but since I am a month late on this past things are blurring together. I'll try to make sure and do his 3 month post next week.

For now here are some pictures of our little guy in his second month:

One Month and 29 Years!

Last Friday Luke turned one month old! He already looks so much different I think mostly because his face has filled out quite a bit. This first month has had its ups and downs. He's adorable which helps a ton but sometimes the crying can be overwhelming. Thankfully he's only really had one purple crying fit (apparently it peaks at 2 months so we'll see) and it was incredibly hard to watch and listen to. I felt so bad for him. As of right now his sleeping has gotten a bit better, at least at night. He does down about 10 and gets up around 2. Then gets up again about 6:30. It's a major improvement from every 3 hours. By the time you fed him and laid him back down you were lucky to get an hour and a half! I think the hospital made us paranoid about making sure he was eating every 2-3 hours since they would come in and make sure you were not going to long between feedings. Andy has been great in basically taking over when he gets home from work and even getting up for the first feeding on the weekends. He is such an awesome dad. Luke and I are so very blessed!

We had our one month check up today. He is 50th percentile in everything, weight (10lbs 4oz), length (21.5 inches), and head circumference. He also got his second Hep B shot today. I think we ALL cried. What a terrible job that much be, giving poor little babies shots! Luke, we love you so much we're willing to put you through that to protect you...Other that rolling over another cute thing he has started doing is cooing occasionally as well as smiling more meaningfully sometimes. Those moments are so precious to us and we can't wait until he does it even more! When he makes eye contact with you purposefully it just melts our hearts and man is he strong! Even the doctors always notice how strong he is!

Here is our sweet boy at 1 month! The lighting was awful this day so I might try to get some other photos later...we'll see...

So our super awesome Mr. Andy turned 29 Saturday! When asked where he wanted to go for his birthday dinner he chose Domino's. That's my husband...he puts everyone else before himself. Especially his little boy. And he was right, staying home was much easier then going out would have been. After we ate our wonderful friends invited us over for a birthday dessert (which was great because I have had NO time to bake :o( ). They got Andy chocolate cupcakes and even had candles for him to blow out. They are so sweet!

Alright, enough for now. I'm sure there will be more to come this week!

Rolling Over

Yesterday I put our sweet boy on his belly for tummy time and he rolled over! At 3 weeks our little Luke has already learned to roll over. So today I decided to catch it on video. This is probably more for the grandparents to see their grandbaby in action, but enjoy none the less (he actually does it towards the end of teh video...)! Oh, and please ignore my talking in the background. Thanks! ;o)

Now, I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing because now he won't stay on his tummy and I know that is important for him to learn to hold up his head and get a head start on being mobile...hmmm....

Luke's First Three Weeks

We were blessed with so many visitors in his first couple weeks of life. I just wanted to post some pictures of them and say thank your for loving our little boy!

The Fetters were so sweet to come visit us while still at the hospital:
Both of our moms were so wonderful to stay and help out. Without them we probably would have gotten  no sleep nor would we have thought to eat...thank you both!
The Johnson's, my adopted family, came when Luke was only 5 days old!
Finally Auntie Amber was able to visit! Unfortunately she had gotten sick right around the time he was born but she was nice enough to not give us her germs. We were so glad when she got to come hang out with us though!
We also had a friend from work come visit with her daughter as well as Auntie Reg. Sadly I did not get any pictures of them with Luke :o(

Since he was a Christmas baby we had to get some pictures with the Christmas tree, even if we didn't get one of all three of us. He didn't want to cooperate the day we decided to do this and then it was time for the tree to come down.
Luke's first bath which he hated (at home):
And of course I just had to post a few cute pictures we have taken...or a lot!
