A Wonderful Wedding!

This past weekend we had the wonderful opportunity to go to a couple of our best friends wedding. It was such a beautiful service, both Chinese and American. The pastor was definitely emphasizing God's love above cultural differences. They recited Corinthians she in Chinese and then James in English. It was so beautiful! Unfortunately, we arrived 5 minutes early which ended up being 9 minutes late so we didn't take any pictures of the ceremony. We did however get a bunch of really fun ones from the reception. The reception was very unique and a great idea. If we got married again I would want to do things in a similar fashion. Instead of having loud music and a dance floor and doing all the normal wedding reception things they rented out an AUTHENTIC Chinese restaurant and people just sat around talking while for about 3 straight hours they brought out food, food, and more food! The food was also quite interesting so it was easy to converse with those around you. Never a dull moment. It was also GREAT to see old friends. I do miss hanging out with people. They did cut a cake and had a first dance though, so that was sweet. Anyway, I'm so happy for them and I can only hope they enjoy married life as much as we do. Enjoy some pictures from the reception!

Crosspointe

It has finally happened! We have found a church for us!We've only gone three times but even from the first time we were there it was like no church we had visited. It is alive and it is passionate. It's such a relief to finally have a place we can call "home". It's now time to try to be social and get plugged in. That's the one thing about being married. We've turned into homebodies. We never hang out with anyone but then when we do we realize what we've been missing. Hopefully we'll have the opportunity to get plugged into a group that we can really learn and grow in as well as develop some wonderful friendships from.
Something really cool and relevant we found out about the church this past weekend is that they have 2 countries other than around here that they really focus on making an impact in. The first some place in Africa and the second being Haiti. They have a ministry here that has been able to partner so many different organizations and people together in order to get help to Haiti. People have donated tons of medical supplies, planes to get things there, and the Canadian Military even wanted to set up a hospital there. They didn't have anywhere to do it but the church bought quite a bit of land there to build schools and such on so they told the, they could build the hospital there. They even decided they are going to leave it there after they are gone so it can continue to be used. Wow...what a blessing. And how amazing to know there are so many people out there who want to help out. It's just a matter of putting the pieces together.

The Catch Up Game

We, or I should say, I, am very bad at this. I don't post forever and then I'll post alot at once. So here we go. Last weekend we went to visit the rest of my family for Christmas. It was wonderful. I am blessed with such a fun family. They were so generous and are allowing us to go to this really neat nursery around here once it warms up so that we can get some plants to finally get our yard started. The inside of the house is doing pretty well but the outside, it needs some serious help. So thanks everyone for your generosity! We cannot wait to start working on our yard!
