Halloween Update!

Ok, so at precisely 9:28pm we had our first batch of Trick-O-Treaters!!!!

We were so excited we danced with our littlest kitty....

...and then just when we thought it was safe, the most horriblest terrifying thing happened..... Jennifer found a slug on her Jack-O-Lantern!!!! Oh the humanity, innocence lost, lives ruined.

Halloween

Living in Cary has been quiet, and for the most part we haven't suffered much of the "Cary" we all love to hate. We don't have a Home Owner's Association mandating what color our mailbox can be or what height range for our grass prevents a fine. There isn't much spice around here, but nobody bothers us - which is OK except for tonight. It's Halloween and Jennifer and I bought 52 and 48 ounces of candy which adds up to slightly over 6 pounds by my calculation and we haven't seen a single Trick-O-Treater.

We carved pumpkins out on the front porch hoping to find Snow Whites and Spidermans or even that pretty boy vampire kid (Jennifer says his name is Edward but that's no kind of Translyvanian name). No Lone Rangers or Princesses, no mummies or Cat-Womans, not even the lazy kid with street clothes and a Scream mask.

So check out the pictures:

Green Acres

This weekend Andy and I went to Green Acres Farms after church to pick our pumpkins! They had so many things there...the only thing we were missing was a kid but luckily we ran into 2 of my preschoolers while we were there to make up for it. We saw tractors:

We walked through a corn maize. So much fun until we couldn't find the number 5!

We saw hayrides...

and even found a hat when walking through the maze! Nice, right?

The corn was taller than Andy,

and defintely taller than me.
Here he is practicing being the scarecrow since he's so good at it. I was going to be Dorothy but really, there won't be any dressing up or Halloween.

We had this paper that had 1-10 and you were supposed to find each one in teh maze and stamp it. I think Andy was a little confused...he should listen better.

5! We finally found number 5. Then we had to find out way out.

And finally, the pumpkins. We didn't really care for the pumpkins they had there but we still had to at least take a picture with them (and this one looked like it had an Easter Bunny and an egg on it. We ended up getting our pumpkins from the Teeter. Way cheaper, too. Once we get around to carving them there will be another post.

Changes

So there have been a lot of changes going on recently. I (Jennifer) finally put in my two weeks notice at TLE. The church we have been attending is doing a series called fearless and a couple weekends ago talked about how not letting go of something because of fear could be keeping God from doing something even greater in your life. I've been going back and forth about quitting for a long time but I was so scared I wouldn't get anther job. Well the day I decided to honestly put in my 2 weeks notice I finally received a call back from an elementary school for an interview to be a 2nd grade TA. That is what I started out as and LOVED it. 2 days later I had the job and next week I go for orientation and start my new job on Friday! I also decided with a new job and me soon approaching the 25 mark it was time to not look 16 anymore. So today I went to get my hair cut. I trusted the lady to do what she wanted and I have to say it's not that bad...I think I kinda like it:

The kids were so fnny when I went back to school today. One child in particular kept asking "Mrs. Jennifer, where is your hair?". Hilarious. I love kids.

So maybe there aren't that many changes. It just feels that way.

Barks, Sparks, and Fuzzy Coats

Andy and I had a wonderful weekend. For once it was restful and we really could do whatever we wanted for a chance. It all started with taking our Allie to a dog park:

She loves to run,

and she tried to make some new friends,

but it never fails, she's a people dog.

This weekend was so cold and we've been keeping the house pretty cool @ 68 (this is a constant debate in this house, 68 is being nice but it beats those 50 degree days inside) so our babies needed a little help staying warm:

Nim is such a baby and a lap cat. He loves his mommy.

Needless to say he stayed nice and warm. He's such a good kitty.

We ended our weekend with a date to the State Fair Sunday after church. We dressed as if it were snowing outside but it turned out to be a good choice. We saw a chicken with an old camera lens as an eye,

a stained glass peacock and garden Andy's coworker's wife made that won best in show,

a barrel monster,

and explored Where the Wild Things Are.

We also got to watch this older man carve pumpkins...

he was AMAZING!

There were pigs made out of fruit,

funny looking birds,

and of course, what would the State Fair be without the livestock?!

They had all these animals made out of recycled materials but this one won first prize. There was also a sheep made of bottle caps, a ram made of old phone cords, and a cow made from milk jugs. This bird was made out of plastic bags.

We wound down the night with a ride on the ferris wheel (my first time ever),

a funnel cake (my favorite thing about the whole fair),

and of course, the fireworks. It was one of the best fireworks displays either of us had ever seen!

Cats CAN Play Darts

Right after we got married we decided to get 2 kittens, Nim and Suki. These cats have some crazy habits but Suki can make us laugh constantly. He absolutely loves darts, or hates them, who knows. As soon as you pick them up, no matter where he is in the house, he will be under the dartboard and whenever you throw them he makes this funny face and a noise to go with it. The other day he even tried to climb the wall to get to teh darts after they had been thrown. We tried to get it on video but he wouldn't jump anymore. It's still pretty funny though.
