Barks, Sparks, and Fuzzy Coats

Andy and I had a wonderful weekend. For once it was restful and we really could do whatever we wanted for a chance. It all started with taking our Allie to a dog park:

She loves to run,

and she tried to make some new friends,

but it never fails, she's a people dog.

This weekend was so cold and we've been keeping the house pretty cool @ 68 (this is a constant debate in this house, 68 is being nice but it beats those 50 degree days inside) so our babies needed a little help staying warm:

Nim is such a baby and a lap cat. He loves his mommy.

Needless to say he stayed nice and warm. He's such a good kitty.

We ended our weekend with a date to the State Fair Sunday after church. We dressed as if it were snowing outside but it turned out to be a good choice. We saw a chicken with an old camera lens as an eye,

a stained glass peacock and garden Andy's coworker's wife made that won best in show,

a barrel monster,

and explored Where the Wild Things Are.

We also got to watch this older man carve pumpkins...

he was AMAZING!

There were pigs made out of fruit,

funny looking birds,

and of course, what would the State Fair be without the livestock?!

They had all these animals made out of recycled materials but this one won first prize. There was also a sheep made of bottle caps, a ram made of old phone cords, and a cow made from milk jugs. This bird was made out of plastic bags.

We wound down the night with a ride on the ferris wheel (my first time ever),

a funnel cake (my favorite thing about the whole fair),

and of course, the fireworks. It was one of the best fireworks displays either of us had ever seen!
